Weekend of Food

There was ALOT of food consumed this weekend...

On Friday night Damian and I went on a double date with Sara and Danny to Black Sheep Pizza. I had never been there and I saw online that they had reasonable prices and cheap beers so why not try it out? This place was delish! Check out that pizza!

Damian and I shared the hot salami and dried chili pepper  pizza and they choose there toppings for a build your own. This place was probably the one of the best pizza places I've been to in Minneapolis, and that's saying ALOT being that I'm from New York.

Damian and I continued our date by going to Ted, which i highly recommend! Very funny movie!

Our plan for Saturday was Zach's grad party. Because I have no ability to sleep in anymore, Damian and I went to Dogapalooza at the state fair grounds to check out the cute dogs. They had everything from dog long jump contests, free dog washes, dog cooling stations, to free dog treats. This place was adorable! We grabbed a hand mixed strawberry lemonade on the way out and then headed to my apartment for lunch. I have to admit that I'm not a huge leftover fan so that's where Damian comes in handy. We stopped at Shish on the way and grabbed a Shish Maza Mix ( A mixed plate of hummus, babaganoush, falafel, feta cheese, tabbouli, tomatoes, and olives). Check out all the leftovers I had in my fridge to make a delicious lunch!

I made a wrap with the veggies, cheese, and cucumber sauce!

Zach's party had amazing pulled beef and chicken sandwiches with tons of other goodies, unfortunately I didn't get any pictures! On Sunday night we made burgers that we whipped up in a matter of minutes.

Loaded Avocado Burgers:

What you need:

- 2 burgers (we had ones that were already formed)
- 2 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 Avocado, sliced
- 1/2 red onion, sliced
- 1 red pepper, sliced
- 2 tsp mayo, divided
- 2 tsp green salsa, divided
- 2 burger buns
- 2 Tb olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced

Double up a strip of tin foil and place onions, pepper, garlic, and olive oil. Wrap up and cook on grill for about 15 mins, turning periodically. Grill burgers to liking with Swiss cheese. Top bun with burger, peppers and onions mixture, avocado slices, with a mixture of the mayo and green salsa.

This time of the year is perfect for fruit so we had some strawberrys and cherries on the side!

When we went to the store yesterday we saw this really odd looking fruit, Horned Melon. I  had never seen one before and well honestly, it was not very good. It has a jelly texture and lots of flavorless seeds. Check out how cool the inside looks!

To top off a great weekend, I picked Andrea up from the airport and we stopped for frozen yogurt on the way home!

Have a great 4th of July!
